Frequently answered Questions
I believe there is tremendous benefit in working with a financial planner. But it’s important to get the right relationship. Interview a few planners before you decide and do your research. ALWAYS ask how a planner is being compensated and whether or not they are a fiduciary (I am).
Xena is positioned to work with clients that have specific financial circumstances, such as receiving equity compensation (typically RSUs) or running a small business. I have direct experience with clients from most of the big tech companies (Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Facebook) and am familiar with their comp structures and benefit packages. Not only am I a current small business owner, but in my prior career, I managed the accounting for small businesses and start-ups. I am familiar with many of the challenges faced and have the ability to read and understand balance sheets and other financial statements.
As for experience, I started working in the financial planning profession in 2014 and have been working directly with clients since 2015. I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER TM (CFP) and a Certified Student Loan Professional (CSLP). I’m currently working on the Enrolled Agent (EA) designation to give me a deeper understanding of taxes.
Let’s chat about it! Set up a time for a free 30-minute call and we can discuss your situation and what you’re looking for.
Absolutely! I specialize in working with women and their partners (of any gender), but I also work with single men. Frankly, if my message resonates with you, there’s a good chance we’ll work well together. And if it’s not a good fit, I’ll refer you to another planner.
Yes. All engagements can be canceled at any time. Any fees will be prorated for the current time period.
No. I feel strongly that people at all income and asset levels deserve access to
high-quality financial advice. I strive to make financial planning accessible to those who do not meet the minimums of more traditional wealth management firms.
If you’re looking to “beat the market” or are overly focused on investment returns, we will likely not be a good fit for working together. Additionally, I work collaboratively with clients; if you’re looking for someone to do 100% of the work for you, a high-service firm will be better suited to your needs.
There’s a lot of emotion tied up in investing. One of the primary benefits of outsourcing this particular facet of your life, is that I am not emotionally attached to your portfolio. I believe in holding a diversified portfolio of low-cost index funds. While some clients come to me with individual stocks, I will never recommend you buy an individual stock.
I do! I am based in Seattle but can work with clients anywhere in the US.
